PROFILE BY JOHN FEARNLEY
Paul is a multi Bodybuilding title-holder having won English,
British and world championships with the EPF and the EFBB. He
co-owns the Olympic Gym in Eccles, Manchester and has many years
experience in weight training and the fitness lifestyle.
Paul kindly wishes to share with Muscle Mob readers his competition goals for the year ahead - Paul stresses that Goals are so important for bodybuilders - and to explain a little about his training regime.
At a current virtually fat-free (see the photos with this article for the true meaning of fat-free. SG) bodyweight of 78 kilos Paul plans to defend his 75-kilo title in the EPF British finals in Halesowen. Incredibly Paul is now eligible for the Masters (over 40) class too and intends to enter that as well - determined to win both! Then it's off to the world championships in November and bringing home both titles!
Paul is currently training as follows:
Monday: Quads, hams and calves.
Tuesday: back and shoulders.
Wednesday: Cardio and abs.
Thursday: Chest and arms.
Friday: Hams, calves and quads.
Sat/Sun: rest days
He likes to incorporate some fun into his training - as a challenge - and as a beneficial change of pace to the normal training routine. Currently he is trying a 'four plate' challenge.
This involves - Chins - with four 20-kilo plates
Dips - with four 20-kilo plates
Lunges - with four 20-kilo plates
per side of a bar (180 kg total)
Thus far, Paul has completed the dips and lunges part of the challenge and is giving himself until April to do the chins.
